Congratulations to Urszula Radwanska, who has won the 75k AEGON Trophy at Nottingham today. What’s the significance of this victory? Well, according to Eurosport Poland, she has probably done enough to qualify for the Olympics.
Eurosport Poland predict that the points earnt reaching the second round of the French Open and winning the AEGON Trophy will be enough to see Radwanska become the new world number 63, when the updated rankings are released on Monday.
The top 56 singles players qualify for the Olympics, although each country can only send a maximum of four players. With seven Russians, seven Czechs, six Americans and five Germans ranked ahead of Radwanska, the 21-year-old appears to have done enough to make the cut.
